High Court has issued notice in the case of Vapi businessman, Bharat Acid and Chemicals, in which search action of Director General of GST Intelligent, Surat and recovery of around Rs. 9 crore was challenged. It was also alleged that extreme physical and mental torture was used by the officers during search and subsequent proceedings.

As nothing was found out during the course of search on 20 and 21st January, the senior citizen businessman was carried by officer to the CGST office and made to sit for the rest of the day and entire night in the office. On next day after around 33 hours in confinement and after compulsory payment of around 9 crore Rs., he was allowed to leave the GST office late in the night.
