CBIC rolls out Automated Return Scrutiny Module for GST returns in ACES-GST backend application
This module will enable the officers to carry out scrutiny of GST returns of Centre Administered Taxpayers selected on the basis of data analytics and risks identified by the System. Discrepancies on account of risks associated with a return are displayed to the tax officers, which would enable them to issue intimation ASMT10.
We are already witnessing several intimations & notices in the recent times and such automations would only increase the quantum. Honestly, this news isn’t a surprise! Most of the ASMT10 are issued with apparent differences which is available as automated reports to the officer. When the burden of proof is always on the taxpayer, such automations would help revenue to initiate proceedings with ease.
Undoubtedly, data & compliances are the fulcrum in GST as compared to erstwhile law. One can avoid inviting litigations by ensuring highest tax compliance level in apparent records!
