Relief to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust From Income Tax Department

 

The Income Tax Department has given a big relief to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The tax of 1800 crores imposed on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust by the department has been waived off. This has been revealed in the meeting of the Trust in the past days.

In the meeting, Trust General Secretary Champat Rai informed the trustees that the fund dedication campaign was launched during the financial year 2020-21 (April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021). Fund dedication campaign was run from 15 January to 27 February 2021 for the construction of the temple.

Trust filed income tax return in 2021. The Income Tax Department had imposed tax on the amount deposited under this campaign. On departmental information, it was told by the trust that it is not possible to transfer the accounts of such a huge campaign online. The trust resolved all the queries of the department, after which the order to refund the amount deducted as TDS has been issued by the department.
