Non-functioning of the new income tax portal system – Case filed by Tax bar Association, Guwahati

The Tax bar Association, Guwahati has filed a writ application before the Gauhati High Court being aggrieved by the non-functioning of the new income tax portal system (Income Tax Portal 2.0) from the launching of the portal on 07.06.2021.

A prayer has been made in the writ petition to direct the respondent authorities to restore the old income tax portal immediately till the new income tax portal is fully ready and to extend the various due dates for all compliances including filing of income tax returns and audit reports by providing atleast three months time form the date it is certified that the portal and server has become fully functional.

It has also been prayed that the respondent may refrain from passing any adverse order against any assessee till the date it is certified that the portal and server has become fully functional.

The aforesaid writ petition is likely to come up for consideration before Gauhati High Court next week.

Dr Ashok Saraf, Senior Advocate shall be appearing and arguing the case on behalf of Tax Bar Association.
