Planning for Closure of Few Income Tax Offices in India: Magic of faceless assessment begins

With faceless and system driven working, the team and staff required in the income tax department will be reduced very drastically.

This can be very well ascertained by the fact that the new recruitment has been reduced significantly. Even the new batch of IRS officers has also been reduced to by around 50%. Every year around 150 officers batch used to go under training at NADT which has been now curtailed to around 60 only. Many officers are also going for VRS even if there is sufficiently longer period of service left.
A general study shows that, with the way technology has been used in all the processes in the income tax department, the present working of the income tax department can be carried out with around 40% of the present work force. This will also result in the reduction in the real estate occupancy of the department.
With this, the administration cost of tax collection will also be reduced considerably. It is expected  that the tax collection cost will reduce by at least 45% and the tax collection will be rising by 20% every year as a result of faceless assessment & better reporting system.
