Numerous Notices via SMS created havoc amongst the taxpayers

 
 
Taxpayers are flooded with the following messages from yesterday
  1. Dear AAMP1234J,
    Income Tax Department has issued a notice/order for AY 2017-18 under section 250. Kindly submit online response in case of notice by login to e-filing account (https://www.incometax.gov.in).

There are lot many messasges which has been sent by the income tax department asking them to make the submission or comply with the notices or access the order.
The sms are pertaining to the notices u/s 270A which provides for penalty notices for under reporting or mis reporting of income.
The SMS are also issued u/s 250 which provides for communication with regard to the Appelate proceeding.
Even the notices are issued U/s 147 which provides for the reassessment proceeding under the Income Tax Act-1961.
The taxpayers are very much surprised and perplexed by the fact that there are no notices which are issued. They all are feeling helpless with the new income tax portal.
Such message without due homework have created havoc not only amongst the t0061paeyrs but also amongst the accountants and tax professionals.
“Wish the messages are not used as a tool of tax terrorism” said the taxpayers who is very much disturbed by non availability of the notice at the portal.
“The clients are calling regularly and asking as if the sms are geunuine or fake” said a tax consultants who was irritated with the latest SMS bombarding from the clients.
“The SMS are acting as terror messages and making me feel uneasy” said the taxpayers on receipt of above message and non availability of the notice at the portal.
